e-Captain allows a comprehensive family composition. You can register the family links in e-Captain. You can e.g. register parents and children, but also brothers, sisters, grandparetns etc.

e-Captain allows a maximum of three generations. Usually these are parents with children or brothers and sisters that are members of the organisation.

If you go to the family card, you will see a number of buttons in the top bar that help create a family structure. These are Partner, Parent, Child and Other.

In today’s society there are an increasing number of families with double surnames. This structure allows you to create a double surname.

The member name that you selected can be found at the top of the tab. It also shows what type of member the person is. This can be shown from the membership tab.

We assume that you have entered the de Vries family. The family consists of:

Imagine that Henk de Vries is the master member. You have selected this member to build the family structure to. Henk de Vries is the selected member on the screen. You intend to link his wife, Alie van Egmond.

• Select the Partner button.

• You will see all current members in the membership table under the tab.
• Now select Alie van Egmond. She is Henk de Vries’ partner.

• Select Alie van Egmond. She will now be linked to Henk de Vries.

The screen now shows (under Henk de Vries) under the heading Family Alie de Vries-Van Egmond followed by the description Partner. Henk and Alie have two chi9ldren with the names Theo and Margot. You also intend to link these two children.

Select the link button Child and you will again see the membership table.

• We enter ‘Vries’ in the name field. All members with this surname appear.

• You select Theo de Vries. This will link Theo de Vries and you will see his name under Henk’s family.
• You repeat the same for Margot de Vries. She too will now be linked to Henk de Vries.
• You have now composeed the family structure of Henk de Vries.
• If you now select Alie de Vries-van Egmond in the Family box, you will see that Alie end up on top of the list. All tabs are adjusted to Alie. Her personal details are now active. Under Family you will now see:

If you would select Theo de Vries, the following would happen. Theo de Vries becomes active and all tabs relating to Theo de Vries will be displayed. Theo does not have a partner or children but does have family. The Family header is now blank and the Other header has been adjusted. Under Other you will see:

You can do the same for Margot. If you intend to make Margot active, her family will be visible. You can also create a structure of brothers and sisters only. Other options include split families and/or in-laws.

A more elaborate structure would involve the parents of Henk de Vries. These can also be members and linked.

• Select Henk de Vries to make his information visible.
• Select Parent and you will see the membership table.
• Search the membership table for Henk’s parents and link these to Henk.
• Imagine that Henk’s father’s name is Arie and his mother’s name is Marjet while his brother’s name is Kees.
• You can link Arie as parent.
• Next link Marjet as parent and Kees as brother.
• If you now select Henk de vries, you can see the whole family structure.

You have a wealth of information in this screen. In case the relationship is not first or second degree (partner, parent, children) you can create links based on other. This list contains all other forms of relationships such as half-brothers or -sisters, in-laws, adopted children and more.

The table of links is adjusted to whether you are male or female.
